Catherine E Cranford
Catherine was born in Pasadena, California moving about the country with her parents until 1994 when
she moved to Hawaii to pursue her career in art full time. Her interest in art grew over time, after watching her mother paint in oils for many many years. The image to the right is a portrait of her
at age 28 painted by her mother, Pauline.
While on Oahu, Catherine attended the Academy of Arts at Linekona, in Honolulu, also working in several galleries to learn the ropes of the art world. Though basically self taught, she did also attend classes at the University of Hawaii. Catherine loved so much the beauty of the island beaches and mountains, and even more enjoyed transforming the places she loved
into works on canvas, working in both oils and acrylics depending on the feeling she wants to achieve.
In 2005 Catherine and her husband Robert moved back to California to be closer to family. She continues to paint Hawaiian scenery from the many photos she has taken over the years, still sending her artwork to the galleries that represent her. She now is branching out to paint her favorite local mainland scenes including the wineries near where she lives and Catalina Island, one of her favorite summer vacation destinations.
Her new challenge is Plein Air painting!
